Village of Omaha Board Meets Tonight: Audit, Sewer, New Fire Chief Appointment on Agenda
The appointment of a new Fire Chief is on the agenda for the Village of Omaha's July board meeting tonight. The audit is finished and will also be discussed. Omaha's 150th sesquicentennial celebration is scheduled for July 24 and updates will given on that topic. A vote for the board treasurer is scheduled as well as discussions of water bills and the sewer.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the civic center building.
Omaha Announces 150th Anniversary Event to be Held in July
Trustee Junalie Nelson announced on Monday night that plans are being made to hold a 150th anniversary celebration for the village of Omaha on July 24. The fire department will manage a crawfish boil and fish fry. A corn hole tournament is planned, along with a cake walk, silent auction, and a tractor show. Live entertainment is on the agenda and there are 16-18 vendors anticipated. Air Evac will do a demonstration. [Read more...]

Incoming President Mike Nelson took his seat on Monday night at the Omaha Village board meeting after the swearing in of the new board members. His first order of business was to announce that employee Richard Fromm was gone for medical leave and that village employee Andy Pritchett would need some help this summer with mowing and trimming. Omaha Board Approves Suez Contract With Minor Changes
The Omaha Village Board reviewed the water tower contract from Suez on Monday night, along with remarks on that contract from the Village attorney. Minor changes were recommended to be made, inserting the word “President” in three places in the agreement rather than the word “Mayor.” [Read more...]
