White County's Brownsville School received an $800 grant from the Illinois Education Association today. During the month of July, Special Education teachers Julie Moore and Tara Miller at Brownsville were talking about ways to make the upcoming school year a positive, fun experience. Together they came up with ideas on ways to partner with special groups in the community. During a zoom call two years ago with Wabash Christian Nursing home, the Brownsville Students learned about career opportunities at the nursing home. At the end of the zoom session, when asked if the Brownsville students could help the nursing home in any way, the representatives told the group they could always use craft supplies. During the 2021-2022 school year, Covid restrictions kept the students from visiting the nursing home, but the freshmen class made crafts to display in the residents’ windows.
