The White County Board passed an increase in the county’s levy on Monday night after a Truth in Taxation hearing was held where about 30 citizens came to hear an explanation of the increase and ask questions. Dustin Harmon of Bellwether, LLC, a consultant hired by the county to prepare the county’s budget, displayed a slideshow explaining the levy increase and the reasons for it. The hearing was triggered by a jump in the county’s increased property tax extension caused by an increase in Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) after the value had declined in 2021.
