CORRECTED: At the hearing this morning in White County Court between Landon "Rudy" Rudolph and the City of Carmi, the court heard Carmi City attorney Greg Stewart make arguments rebutting Rudolph's position from case law that he brought forth from the last hearing. Stewart declared that the outcome of the cases Rudolph cited actually supported the City's position. Stewart attended the hearing by Zoom, as did Shelby Clark, who said she was there on behalf of the City, Mayor, and Clerk.
A portion of a video supporting the City's action at the September 15th meeting after a closed session when the vote was taken, was offered and viewed by the court. The video shows Alderwoman Sherri Stevens making the motion to approve the contract, dated August 31, with law firm Lashly & Baer, along with the amendment to the initial contract. The amendment made a change to conclude the contract one day less than one year, or on August 30 of 2027.
