From Fran Matheny
"HCE has been through a difficult year, but managed to find places to have meetings and making plans for our community programs that make a difference in family lives. We were able to get many projects that made an incredible impact on our friends and neighbors. A single act of kindness can have an incredible impact on a family struggling through some of the darkest moments of their lives.
It was hard this year. We lost family members, neighbors, friends. We as H.C.E. members have done this through making a difference for some. We took snacks to our first responders and nursing homes, took foods to food pantries in White County. We made Christmas bags for the Veterans in the White County nursing homes. We had fundraisers for our White County Salvation Army, partnered up with Red Cross and gave out 75 smoke alarms and made sure they were installed. We helped with two local blood drives. In the last month, we delivered gloves and hats and bottled water to the tornado damaged
towns of Bremen, Ky. and Dawson Springs, Ky.
We are looking forward to many more community projects. Anyone who is interested in becoming a member of a rewarding and exciting experience while helping others, call the extension office at 618-382-2662."
